Fluoride Offgassing in Fluoropolymer Insulations

2020-03-24
CURRENT
ARP6229
This SAE Aerospace Recommended Practice (ARP) shall be limited to information about corrosion caused by fluoride offgassing of fluoropolymer-based wire insulation. It reviews published reports of corrosion caused by this phenomenon, describes scenarios where this may be a concern, mitigation options, and references a test method which can be used to evaluate wire insulations where needed.

Qualification of Percon® 24, a New High-Strength Conductor Alloy to AS29606

2021-03-23
CURRENT
AIR7929
This SAE Aerospace Information Report (AIR) is limited to information about evaluation of a new cadmium-free high-strength copper alloy. The testing described in this AIR was conducted prior to the publication of AS6324 and is intended to provide information regarding evaluation of this new copper alloy. It is recognized that a simple specification such as AS29606 can not cover all possible requirements for performance in every field application. To address this basic issue, the introduction of a new, but similar to already field proven, component requires comparative testing to verify the new component will perform at the same or above level as the already approved component in a broader set of relevant tests.

Performance Requirements for Wire, Electric, Insulated Copper or Copper Alloy

1998-09-01
HISTORICAL
AS4372A
This document covers the requirements for insulated, single-conductor, electric wires with tin-coated, silver-coated, or nickel-coated conductors of copper or copper alloy as specified in the applicable performance sheet (see Appendix A for sample). It provides general performance requirements, ratings, and information for various characteristics of insulated wire systems used in aerospace applications. Numerical test requirements, or parameters, were originally developed using either english or metric units. The original, primary, units are shown first with the secondary (converted) units in parentheses. Secondary units are listed for not information only and are not to be considered requirements. Wire will be assigned a level of performance for many requirements set forth in this standard. These performance levels, in addition to numerical test results, shall be listed in the applicable performance sheet.
